Man tied up during home invasion

Family tied up during home invasion

Family tied up during home invasion

The search continues in Lexington for three masked men wanted in an alarming home invasion.

It happened around 9 p.m. Monday night; now police are saying the crime is not random.

Police say the alleged victim, John Michalsyk, was bound with duct tape inside his home on Stoney Park Lane, near Trailwood Lane and Leestown in Lexington. Police say the men had a gun and robbed Michalsyk in front of his wife and three small children. Once the family handed over cash, police say the three men left.

"At this time, we're still looking for the suspects. We have some really solid leads," explained Lt. Douglas Pape.

Neighbors are on edge, saying they've never seen such a violent crime in the area. But police are trying to calm their fears, saying that Michalsyk was targeted for a reason.

"Really want to get the word out to the public that this isn't a random act of violence," Pape explained. "The overwhelming majority of these instances are involving some sort of high-risk behavior that the victim or suspects are participating in."

Police have not said what type of high-risk behavior Michalsyk may be involved with.

If you have any information about the suspects, you are asked to call Police at 258-3600.
