An eastern Kentucky man is banned from coaching for life.

An eastern Kentucky softball coach pleaded guilty Monday morning after he allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with one of his teenage softball players.

Mark Kohari was in court in Pikeville Monday morning where he made the plea.

Attorneys say Mark Kohari had been a little league and volunteer softball coach for years.

Court officials say he didn't even have a record, but that all changed when he said he was guilty of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Belfry Volunteer Softball Coach Mark Kohari said he didn't want an attorney.

Kohari was charged with third degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

Sheriff's department investigators say he had an inappropriate relationship with a 16 year old softball player during an out of town tournament.

“Anytime a person is in a position of trust or authority, it makes it that much worse,” Attorney Roger Varney said.

Through a plea deal, Kohari will serve 30 days in jail, probation for two years, and is banned from coaching for life.

Judge mullins felt it wasn't harsh enough. He also banned him from school property for the next two years.

Kohari says he has two children who play school sports and asked permission to go to their games, but the judge said no.

“Because that's the price you're having to pay. You'll never get to see your children play for the next two years because of these charges,” Judge Darrel Mullins said.

The prosecutor says the girl's parents are pleased with the outcome.

Kohari declined an interview and just said no comment.

The judge also ordered Kohari to undergo counseling.

If he violates his probation, he will be back here in court.
