Viewer Tip Helps Residents Get Their Stolen Property Back.

Residents who were robbed in the Garden Springs area this weekend get their property back. Thanks to an alert WKYT viewer.
On Sunday, WKYT reported that residents in the area had been robbed.
One of the residents, Harold Rupart, said he had lawn equipment stolen.
This morning Rupart said he received a surprising call.

"I got a call and they said, we think we have your things, and you need to come see if you can identify them," Rupart said.

Rupart says he was pleasantly surprised to find his rototiller, two weed eaters, and a leaf blower.

When he asked how they found the stolen items police, told him they received a tip.

"They said they had gotten a tip from someone who had watched it on Channel 27...And as a result of that tip that was the reason they were able to find the equipment," Rupart said.

Rupart says most of his neighbors stolen property was also returned.

The retired police captain and his wife have lived in the home for 43 years and say this is the only bad thing that's happened in the neighborhood since he moved there.

"It speaks very well of our police department and the fast results," Rupart said. "And of course, more importantly, people being interested, and the media being involved. A combination of teamwork so to speak and they recovered the property."
