Vandals Cause Major Damage at Lexington Park

Lexington police say some teens in an SUV went riding through and around Castlewood Park, hitting cars and even taking out a fence.

One witness reports waking up to a loud boom.

Police say the vandals, teens, were joy riding through the park and slammed into parked cars on neighboring Castlewood Drive.

Another witness says the vandals hit the front of her car, careened through her front yard, knocked down her house number, dug up her gas main, then crashed through her neighbor's fence.

Saunda Coleman lives in the neighborhood and helps run a camp for children at the park during the summer. She says she's fed up with the crime at the park and says police patrol should be stepped up in the area.

We as citizens need to also step it up and take back our parks. I know of a park that has volunteers that help monitor and patrol the park and they have a good relationship with the police on that beat and they worked to gether to keep park clean and free of crime and vandelisim

From the article: ...dug up her gas main Well I guess now would be a good time to replace your gas line.

blaming the residents of the neighborhood for this crime is like blaming a rape victim for wearing a short skirt. the jerks in the truck are responsible, not the people who were victimized!
