Former Garrard County Official Indicted on Murder, Assault Charges

Former Garrard County Emergency Director, Dwayne Nave, was indicted Friday morning on murder and assault charges by a Garrad County grand jury.

The indictment stems from a deadly car crash last April that killed 43 year old Willard L. Quinn of Parksville.

State Police say Nave was intoxicated when his county-owned car crossed a center line on U.S. 27 near Bryantsville and slammed into a pickup truck driven by Quinn.

Police say Quinn was trapped in his pickup and unable to escape, which lead to his death.

A passenger in Quinn's truck, Kevin L. Reed, was also injured and taken to University of Kentucky Hospital.

Nave resigned Tuesday from his county job and will be arraigned July 20th on those charges.

Dear God how many more deaths from DUI drivers in this state. If you read this please call legislators, senators congress someone had better listen. Kentucky has very lax laws with DUI drivers after five years they are taken away and you get to start all over. My opinion two and you are gone to jail for one year. Hopefully no one dies in the first one. Mother of deceased DUI driver his first and last in a single car crash.
