Baby Found On Doorstep Near Pregnant Woman's Disappearance

WOOSTER, Ohio (AP) - Investigators are looking into whether a newborn found on a northeast Ohio porch is connected to a missing pregnant woman 45 miles away.

A DNA sample from the baby girl who turned up near Wooster on Monday has been given to Stark County authorities investigating the disappearance of Jessie Davis. A bottle and can of formula left with the infant have been sent to a state lab in Columbus to be analyzed for fingerprints and any other evidence.

The baby was sleeping in a wicker basket when Don and Sue Redman
found her Monday at their home.

The Wayne County sheriff doesn't believe there's a link to the Davis case. Don Redman says he thinks the baby was left by someone who knew his wife's background as a nurse.

I agree with the others Brandi you should be happy and thanking the good Lord that this parent left this child on a doorstep instead of a dumpster or a shallow grave which seems to be the norm anymore. At least this child will have a chance to grow up and have a life! As for MG.... Yes, try fostering. These little ones needs love of good people like you and your husband. It makes the heart feel good to help an abused child. To help that child know that not all people are bad and wants to treat them bad. Gives them hope!

MG, Sounds like you love children! Know that there are other ways to get children, try fostering. A couple in our town fostered 4 siblings and have now adopted them they are now a wonderfully happy family. Having a "baby" is a beautiful thing, but they grow up just like foster kids do, please consider trying to foster a child that is cleared for adoption. Perhaps God has a child picked for you already and he/she is just out there waiting for you to come and find him/her.There are so many ways to have children in your life, try volunteering at your local primary school, believe me there are many children there that could use a positive influence in their lives. You could be the one person in a childs life who gave them hope. You say some don't understand you, but you are an adult, put yourself in an unwanted or neglected childs shoes. Im sure your broken heart could be mended and happy again, by helping a needy child. God Bless

I THINK THAT SOMEONE LOVED THAT BABY ENOUGH TO FIND GOOD PEOPLE TO LEAVE IT WITH AND NOT IN A DUMPSTER OR WORSE KILLED IT, IF THEY WOULD HAVE CAME FOWARD AND TOLD WHO THEY WERE THE PEOPLE EVERYWHERE WOULD HAVE TALKED ABOUT THEM, PUT THEM DOWN AND MADE THEM OUT TO BE AWFUL WHEN IN FACT THEY TRYING TO DO THE BEST THING FOR THEIR BABY, WHO KNOWS THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OPTION THEY HAD AT THE TIME, I JUST THANK GOD IT IS ALIVE AND SAFE AT LEAST IT HAS A CHANCE TO GROW UP.

Why can't the goverment let the people that can't have children have a child like this one. That is so stupid that you have to pay for a child in the U. S. when apparently the parents didn't or don't want it.Give it to a loving set of parents like me and my husband who don't make enough money to adopt. What I would'nt give to have my own baby. Some people in this world don't understand how it feels to be told you can never have a child. You'll never know unless your like me.

Susie yes it is a blessing that the baby was left on a doorstep, praise GOD for that - but whoever left the child, whether they are innocent or not, should have contacted the owner of the house that they left it at. I am glad that the child is safe, but it's just a sad situation all together. IF this child is the missing woman's, that child might grow up not knowing her mother if she isn't found. Again, I agree that it is a blessing, but whoever left the child SHOULD have contacted authorites instead of just leaving it. How guilty does that appear to you??

This is in response to Brandi Campbell - yes the baby was defenseless and someone had the insight to leave it where someone who could and would care for it would find it. Would you have rather they just threw the baby in a dumpster like so many others have done?
