The federal amendment that supported coal to liquid fuels was voted down by the U.S. Senate Tuesday by a vote of 55 to 39.
Kentucky Senator Jim Bunning sponsored the bill that would have required America to phase-in the use of six billion gallons of coal-to-liquid fuel by 2022.
Bunning called the vote, "A victory for middle eastern oil and a loss for the American people."
