KENNEDY SPACE CENTER (AP) - The space shuttle's first landing opportunity today is a no-go.
NASA officials have decided to wave-off Atlantis from the Florida landing at 1:55 p-m, Eastern time, because of thunderstorms and clouds at Kennedy Space Center.
The next chance to land will be at 3:30 this afternoon.
NASA says the storms were within 34 miles, and there were clouds within eight-thousand feet of the landing strip. Both were too
close for comfort, under flight rules.
The shuttle and seven astronauts are returning from a trip to the international space station.
