Madison County Girl Killed On Bluegrass Parkway

He had just finished 18 months in Iraq and was headed home to Richmond with his family when tragedy struck.

The SUV Lawrence Jamie Carta was driving went out of control on the Bluegrass Pkwy. in Nelson County and flipped several times, according to investigators.

His 10 year-old daughter Macy was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene.

Pamela Carta was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital with critical injuries.

Jamie and 15 year-old Phillip Akers were treated and released at a local hospital.

Jamie who is stationed at Fort Knox had just arrived home after spending 18 months in Iraq.

Investigators say they aren’t exactly sure how the accident occurred but say a severe storm could have played a factor.

I miss Macy so much every time i read stories and articles about her i cry but then i think "she lived a good life and is now in God's hands" even though this tragedy happened 2 years ago i still pray for the carta family because i know it was a horrible loss...Macy was pretty much my bestie and i had a picture that i took for her and i never got the chance to show it to her...I played softball with her and when i started back to school i met Danielle who also knew Macy, She(Danielle) is still my friend to this very day and we both think of Macy every day ~alex cummins

CPT Carta, my most sincer sympithys for your loss, I served you in iraq and I know you are a good man, and knowing you are a good man I know the lord must have a reason for taking your daughter from you. and that she is helping some one some where. I know nothing anybody says is going to make your loss return but take comfort in knowing you will see your daughter again someday. Sir my very best of wishes are with you and your family. take care, a soldier formally in your convoy teams.

I have been dating Phillip for almost 2 years. And over those 2 years I got really close to Phillip and the Carta family.Macy was like my little sister I had gotten very close to her.She was so extraordinary, she was unlike any other little girl I had ever met.She was so full of life.I know the 10 years that she was on Earth she touched many peoples lives and hearts. She is greatly missed from so many people in Madison County. But I know it brings peace to me and others to know that Macy is in a much better place in which she deserves so much to be in.I know God is here to carry everyone through this.I know Phillip, Jaimie, and Pam are all strong enough to get through this. God is going to see that they do....Jaimie,Pam,and Phillip I love you all so much I am so sorry for your loss. Please know I am here and so is my family anytime you need.
