WILLIAMSTOWN, Ky. (AP) - Federal, state and local law
enforcement are looking for an eastern Kentucky man who escaped
from jail. Thirty-five-year-old Anthony Artrip of Ashland was
awaiting a federal bank robbery trial.
Grant County jailer Steve Kellam says Artrip climbed through the
roof of the jail around eleven-30 last night. Jail deputies pursued
him on foot as he jumped off the roof and ran into the woods
nearby, but they didn't catch him.
U-S Marshall John Schickel says Artrip has a history of escapes
and bank robberies and is considered dangerous.
Artrip is awaiting a federal trial in Cincinnati on a bank
robbery charge related to a holdup several months ago in
Portsmouth, Ohio. He had been in custody for about 75 days.
