Fletcher's Judge Now Volunteering With Beshear Campaign

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A former judge who authorized a special grand jury to investigate the hiring practices of Gov. Ernie Fletcher's administration now is a volunteer for Fletcher's Democratic challenger, a campaign spokesman said.

William Graham, a retired Franklin County circuit judge, has been serving as an unpaid volunteer on the campaign of Democratic challenger Steve Beshear, said Robert Kellar, Beshear's campaign spokesman.

The grand jury indicted Fletcher last year in an alleged scheme to reward political supporters with protected state jobs. The indictment was dismissed in August in a negotiated settlement with prosecutors.

Fletcher has maintained that the grand jury's investigation was politically motivated.

Fletcher supporter Larry Forgy, a Lexington attorney, said Graham's association with the Beshear campaign raises questions about the grand jury investigation.

"It stinks to high heaven," Forgy said.

Kellar said Graham has been a volunteer with the campaign since before the primary election, but that he has no "official position" with the campaign.

Graham is vacationing in New York and didn't return a phone call seeking comment.

Why didn't Steve Beshear do more to fight corruption in Eastern Kentucky? Why were so many state indictments thrown out that his special prosecutor obtained evidence for? Could it be that they knowingly used tainted confessions? How did convicted felons get badges and guns during this time frame?????

It's who you know and the same penalties are not followed for everyone. Im gald Greg Stumbo was showed that no one wants him to be governor I am surprised that Judge Graham don't run, stay retired!!!

If you think this stinks you should investigate what happened in 1981- 1982 in Perry County with the special prosecutor for the then Attorney General Steve Beshear. Just one example involves the case Commonwealth Of Kentucky vs. Joshua Drake.

More Forgy drama. Hes been at it for about 12 years and what position has he held. No body wants to hear a loud mouth liar bellow about how unfair it is. Yuck to all politicians that cant behave in an honorable manner while trying to "serve" us regular folks. I guess it really is time for a facelift in Frankfort.
