Family Dog Dies After Saving Owner From House Fire

A mobile home fire breaks out in Georgetown early this morning, fire officials say from an electrical problem.

Fire officials say Jimmy Rice Jr. was asleep when the fire started, but his pit bull Trinity barked to wake him up.

Rice managed to get out just in time, but Trinity did not. Family tells 27NEWSFIRST that Trinity got scared and decided to hide under the bed. Family says they tried to get her out, but it was too late.

Family tells us Trinity was to give birth in two weeks to a liter of puppies.

The Rice family is now making burial arrangements for Trinity.

My condolences to your family for the loss of such a wonderful Pit Bull. She was a true hero and a true testament to what a true pit bull is. Huge heart and loyality to the end. God Bless her. Run free at the bridge Trinity and your sweet pups. I will remember your bravery always

Pits have hearts bigger than you'd ever believe from news reports. The fact that they've been misbred and mishandled by owners is so sad. The best dog I've ever owned was a female pit who would lick you to death, but was given antifreeze by an ignorant neighbor and died a slow and painful death. As the vet was inserting her IV, she laid her big head over and licked his hand. This dog will always have my heart. So sorry for your loss, I remember it all too well.

Very sad story, extremely. I'm hoping that your hero dog will show more people that our pets are precious and worth more than what they think!

I lost a pit mix in a house fire. She was home alone when it happened :( I feel so bad for your loss. What a hero Trinity is. She has now crossed the Rainbow Bridge and is playing with her pups while she waits for you.
