Attempted Kidnapping Suspect On The Loose

More Video...

Police were called out to Masterson Station Academy on West Main Street in Lexington after a man approached day care workers trying to pick up a child that wasn't his.

The suspect went to the fence at the back to Masterson Station Academy, asking to pick up a specific child. Tthat child's mother works at the daycare, and didn't know who this man was.

Workers told the man that this was not proper pick up procedure, and brought all the children inside. The suspect then picked up his cell phone, "pretending" to call someone, then walked off.

Police are now looking for the man who matches the following description:

Age 20 - 25
Black Male
About 6 feet tall
Medium build
Wearing white t-shirt and blue jeans

He knew the child well enough to know her name but he didn't know her mother worked there? It just doesn't make sense. He needs to get psychiatric help and leave the children alone.

Hats off to the staff. To the parents of the kids who go to Masterson Station Academy, looks like you've found some excellent care for your young ones..

Why did the daycare wait 24 hours before reporting this? Sounds suspicious in itself.

Start checking the sex offenders that live in the area. Don't forget there are juvenile sex offenders too to check out!

I think all childcare programs in Lexingon and surrounding counties should be very much on the lookout for this man. Please make sure your organization is following proper procedures for child pickup. As a mother myself, this concerns me very much. Please continue to help keep our children safe!

There was another incident that I do not recall seeing on the news. It happened a week ago yesterday around UK campus where a black male tried to kidnap a child and was unsuccessful. If it had not been for a cop going to my son's daycare to alert them on this incident then I would have not found out about it. I emailed the UK police department asking why nothing had been said and especially why it wasn't on the news alerting everyone else about it and the next day an email about the description was sent to UK employees. This could be the same guy that is trying to do this. Everyone please keep your children safe!

Thank GOD the workers knew what to do and were paying attention to the kids! If this were me, I would be bringing in sweets and ice cream for the entire staff!!! WAY TO GO!!!!

Gosh what a crazy world. I pray that all of our daycares and schools keep an eye out for these kind of creepy people. Good luck to the Fayette Co Police Dept.

Oh My goodness. I pray that there is a check out list with social security numbers and identification required there.
