Murder Victim
A man trying to reposess a car was gunned down last night outside an apartment on Laredo Drive.
The man arrested for the crime, 20-year-old Brandon Robinson, appeared in court Friday afternoon to answer to a murder charge.
It happened Thursday night on Laredo drive between Camelot and Redding roads.
Police say David S. Smith, 40, was sitting in the driver's seat of a car when he was shot several times.
Witnesses tell 27NEWSFIRST Smith was repossessing a Chevy Cutlass Sierrra, the car that the suspect had been driving, when Robisnon became angry and shot him.
Visitation for smith is sunday from 5 to 8 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road.
The funeral will be 10:30 monday morning... also at Kerr Brothers.
The Smith family says David died doing what he always would do... helping a friend.
They say David wasn't a repo man, in fact he'd never done it before until his friend from Cars 'R' Us asked him to.
His family tells says David was a father of three, one of his sons just recently returned from serving in iraq.
The 45-year old grew up in lexington and was soon to be married. He was an avid fisherman and competed in some of the major fishing tournaments across the state.
