Police are investigating a murder that occurred at 4:28 a.m. Sunday in the 500 Block East Third Street in downtown Lexington. It's close to the Race Street intersection.
Police units responded to a report of a “disorder with shots fired.” When officers arrived they found an adult black male laying on the sidewalk with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the U. K. Medical Center but later died. He was later identified as 19-year-old Tamond Thompson.
Witnesses told police Thompson and another male black were arguing just before they heard gunshots. Police describe the suspect as a male black wearing a white shirt and short pants, with a stocky build, short or shaved hair, standing about 5’ 9” and weighing about 180 pounds.

19-year-old man fatally shot in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Lexington police say that a 19-year-old man was shot and killed early yesterday after an argument.
Police say Tamond Thompson was found on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He died at University of Kentucky Hospital.
Police won't say how many times Thompson was shot, but his sister says five shots were fired and her brother was struck in the back.
Witnesses told police that Thompson and the shooter had been arguing before the shooting.
No arrests have been made in the case.
