The Bluegrass Railroad Museum has been located at the Woodford County Park since 1987, but last November, it was damaged by a devastating fire.
The museum went up in smoke November 2 last year and today the Bluegrass Railroad Museum is getting back on track.
Versailles and Woodford County officials broke ground Tuesday for the new Bluegrass Railroad Museum and Depot.
Construction begins next week and officials say it should take a month or so to complete.
Last year's fire was blamed on an electrical problem. It destroyed the second floor of the depot and caused significant damage to the roof.
Versailles Mayor Fred Siegelman says the museum is a great asset to Woodford County and with today's ground breaking he's excited about the new and improved attraction.
The Bluegrass Railroad Museum is run by volunteers and the up keep and daily operations are paid for with donations.
