No,the difference is that everyone wants to lay blame and hop on their soapbox for this, when in reality someone is hurt or killed, there are far more people killed evryday in their cars while doing stupid things, but all they want to talk about is this.Yeah he should have been wearing a helmet, but how many people do you see everyday cutting you off in traffic,no turn signals,etc....but noone wants to talk about that...and Joe....I bet you can tell me all about stupidity....

I guess if the ATV rider had been talking on his cell phone that would have made all the difference.

Did you just call me stupid? Haha....no talking on cell phones while driving isn't,but it is as stupid as riding without a helmet...I have an ATV and have more close calls on the road by people not paying attention as I ever have on my ATV....Everytime someone wrecks or gets killed on an ATV,all you here is this crap....wouldn't it be better to say....I hope the person is alright and has learned a lesson...I may be stupid, but I have a heart, not just an agenda.....

Is talking on cell phones illegal now in KY? I wasn't aware of that.

No Rob, I do not drive and talk on my cell phone. What part of stupidity don't you understand? Even the instruction manuals and sticker on the ATVs state that a helmet must be worn. Yes, I'll throw all the stones I want at people who ride ATVs and do not follow the rules.

My sympathies go out to the family. However, the teen, if riding off road and not wearing a helmet as reported, was breaking the law in KY. In KY, when riding off road a helmet is required. Here is my source: http://home.ama-cycle.org/amaccess/laws/result.asp?state=ky
