An eastern Kentucky man is dead after a domestic dispute in Letcher County and another man is charged with his murder on the Fourth Of July.

Police say they have few details so far in the domestic dispute that ended with a fatal gun shot wound.

Police say 36-year-old Bobby Collins shot 37-year-old Mark Adams at Collins' home on Cherokee Drive in Deane.

State police say they responded to a 911 call at about 10 o'clock Tuesday night from a neighbor who thought he heard a gunshot.

Police say they found Adams lying on the floor of Collins' front porch with a gunshot wound to his chest.

"At this time we're unaware of the particulars or the details of the possible domestic dispute, all the parties that may or may not be involved," Trooper Jody Sims said.

Adams was flown to Holston Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.

Collins was arrested and charged with murder.

He is in the Letcher County Jail.

Police say Adams lived in the same community as Collins, but they are unsure of the relationship between the two men, or what the dispute was about.

We'll have those details as soon as police release more information.

I do feel for the families of both men. My heart breaks for them both but I do NOT feel that Bobby should be sitting in jail for murder and yea I do feel that the woman in this case should have 99% of the blame her ass should be sitting in jail instead of Bobby and my advice to her is you can move or run for the rest of your life but you cant escape whats in your own head...and I know exactly what your hiding.

i would like to say for the record bobbby collins and mark bockey adams was both liked in the community.however even though they both was like does not exclude the fact than man was muder mark had no weapon if bobby was scared of his life if that was true then bobby could have easily shot him in the foot .then mark would still be alive and boby would only be in trouble for assault. has anyone ever consider that the female in the case could be blame for all this happening .i wounder how she sleeps at night . my heart goes out to mark adams gone but not forgoton .my heart also goes out to bobby collins ,thank you ,keshia

I would feel a lot better if "people" would stop influencing judges and what the paper prints ..Where is the justice in that? This is a corrupt little place based on who knows who! I do not feel that Mr. Collins will get a fair trail in this town.

As a person with a Law Enforcement background, and a person with family ties to this case, let me say this: It is the jurisdiction of the local prosecutor to file charges. There had to have been some evidence in this case, for charges to have been filed. Many things need to be taken in to consideration. The key points which will be considered in this case will be motive and intent. Motive and intent by all pertinent parties involved. Motive and intent of the female involved in going to Mr.Collins' residence, including what her relationship to Mr. Collins was and is. Mr. Adams' motive and intent in his confrontation with Mr. Collins. As well as Mr. Collins' motive and intent in shooting Mr. Adams. Past confrontations between Mr. Collins and Mr. Adams will most certainly be examined and investigated, and many things will be brought into light once those investigations are concluded. My suggestion would be to hold judgement in this case until all of the evidence is presented. As for those who claim to have been at the scene of the shooting, I suggest you be cooperative, truthful, and forthcoming to the investigating officers. Many "truths" will be brought out in this investigation, as the lives of all of those involved will be closely examined. My family members, and friends involved in this tragedy will be in my thoughts, as they well know.

To knott county: Was you there? My opinion is the only help that Mr.Adams needed was to have kicked the female subject out a long time ago and he would still be around today. May God Bless Mr.Adams's family they have lost 2 sons in the past 7 years my heart goes out to them.

The lesson that should be learned from all of this is-- If you are at a place where there is drinking, drugs, fighting, cussing, and weapons, it should occur to you that you are in a bad, bad place. LEAVE! In the future, don't hang around where these sorts of things are. Find yourself a safer place and smarter people to hang out with. Like a church, for example.

bobby collins should not be in jail [for 1st degree murder at that] for doing what is a natural instinct. i know if all you people writing comments aganist collins where in the same situation you would have done the same thing. if you had already got your head busted by the person and his family your not going to sit there and let him come at you not knowing what he is going to do next. im truly am sorry for the family of mark adams.

The comments made here are unbelievable. The Collins man watched the Adams man beat a woman, try to burn a vehicle, was shoved to the ground him self, threatened of his life and and his family's life. The the Adams man ran into the woods away from the police. This sounds like a person who has totally lost his mind or had rabies. If this happened to me, you could bet your life that I would have been the man that shot him. Im sorry that the faimly lost a loved one but my God,, didnt someone see that this man needed help??
