Cleanup Begins From Overnight Storms

More Video...

Strong thunderstorms moved through Lexington early Thursday morning leaving behind damage.

The damage stretches from a golf course to Lexington's Andover neighborhood, even hitting Jacobson Park.

The Richmond Road at Man O'War area saw most of the damage, with fallen trees and power outages.

Jacobson Park is littered with trees that have been completely uprooted, with much of the damage around the playground and marina area. Crews have been working all morning, and will continue to work throughout the day until the park is cleared. The park is now open to the public, but the marina will remain closed until further notice.

At Lexington's Lake Side Golf Course, they're reporting nearly one hundred downed trees. Storms also ripped down power lines, even blowing away a shed that hit a parked car, causing damage to the vehicle. Lake Side Golf Course will be closed today for clean up, but hope to re-open tomorrow.

The damage reports didn't stop there, as homeowners in the Andover Community are also cleaning up.

There's no report from Kentucky Utilities on how many customers lost power.

Wow! I was in awe at all the storm damage this morning when I woke up. Three trees lay across my front yard, one of which was struck by lightning, and the other two were completely uprooted from the ground. It looks like a tornado ripped through the neighborhood. Window screens lay strewn about everywhere with various debris. And we were supposed to have a dry 4th of July. Hahaha. Mother nature is amazing.
