Man Arrested Outside Obama's Hotel

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A man with a large knife has been arrested outside a hotel in Iowa where Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was staying.

Police in Ottumwa say the 24-year-old man (Davit Zakaryan) has been charged with possessing an illegal weapon and driving without a license. The knife was longer than eight inches, which is the legal limit in Iowa.

Police say he had not made any threats toward Obama. But the Illinois senator's security crew had been keeping an eye on the man because they thought his car looked familiar and may have been at another of Obama's campaign stops.

Obama was heading out Wednesday for a busy day of campaigning when the man was spotted loitering outside the hotel and arrested.

Good thing he didn't have any 'very strong' rope in the trunk. He'd have gotten 25 years. What has happened to the America that our Founders saw fit to make? Perhaps Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett should be posthumously reprimanded for being too manly.
