Las Vegas Shooting Leaves Four Wounded

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police in Las Vegas now say the gunman who opened fire from a casino mezzanine injured three people before he was tackled by officers and patrons.

Initially, police had reported four people wounded.

None of the injuries is believed to be life-threatening.

Police credit bystanders with stopping the shooter. They say those bystanders included three off-duty out-of-town police officers and two military personnel.

A police lieutenant says, "These are the real heroes."

The shooting broke out a little after midnight at the New York New York hotel-casino.

Police aren't sure yet just how many shots were fired. They say the casino was packed with people who were in town after Independence Day for a holiday weekend.

The man is believed to be in his early 50s and a Las Vegas resident -- not a hotel guest, and not an employee.
