Fletcher Works To Get Special Session Back On Track

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Governor Fletcher is trying to set up a meeting with House leaders in an effort to get a special legislative session back on track.

House lawmakers adjourned shortly after the session began yesterday without taking any action. They said Fletcher's decision to call them back to Frankfort was unnecessary and too costly to be justified.

Fletcher says it's clear that the lawmakers are playing politics.

One of the major items on the agenda is passage of financial incentives for Peabody Energy. The company interested in building a three (B) billion-dollar plant to convert coal to synthetic natural gas.

House Speaker Jody Richards said, when they adjourned, that they have no intention of coming back for a session that could cost taxpayers two-and-a-half (M) million dollars to deal with issues that can wait until lawmakers return in January.

Jody Richards could have given any reason under the sun besides Dems being worried about costing taxpayers money. Yeah, right and Michael Moore has a brain, Paris Hilton has learned her lesson, John Edwards gets his hair cut at Supercuts, etc.

Who does he think he is pardoning everyone over his SCANDAL... SHAME ON YOU ERNIE SHAME, SHAME, SHAME. I think it is time to get a Democrate back into office as Govenor and one back in the white house... Everyone in the GREAT UNITED STATES OF AMERICAN needs them! It is a known historical fact that a REPUBLICAN PUTS US INTO A DEPRESSION AND IT TAKES A DEMOCRATE TO GET US OUT!!!!! Everyone needs to vote and make a good choice this time since we don't have a cheater running for the president anymore...

The only one playing politics if Fletcher and his cronies. No special session was needed, period.

It is not costing the Kentucky taxpayers anymore to have a special session than it would cost to leave business undone. Some of the bills if left untended will cost us much, much more. So I am tired of lawmakers whining about cost. Like they care

I think the Democrates are wrong to walk off the job and should be fired. They want to wait so they can get credit for doing what Governor Fletcher need to be done NOW. They all should be voted out of office.
