Teen Crashes Stolen Car During Chase

Lexington Police say a 17-year old in a stolen car lead them on a chase through a neighborhood. It all happened on Winburn Drive just before one Monday morning.

Police say a car wouldn't pull over for officers. That's when the chase started.

Eventually, the suspect's car crashed through a neighborhood sign. Police say the driver ran out of the car after wrecking. They ended up catching a 17-year-old near Bowen Court.

The teen went to the hospital to get checked out. Police tell 27 NEWSFIRST his injuries are only minor.

The juvenile is charged with wanton endangerment, fleeing and evading and stealing the car used during the chase.

There seems to be a few on here that want to pass judgement on this young man and his family without knowing any of them. "Judge not lest ye be judged". Just because this is a young black male in trouble with the law, you want to go and drag his name through the mud, cause him and his family public humiliation, and assume that his father is "nowhere to be found". It's gotten really old having to deal with stereotypes when it comes to black men, young and old. He stole a car. He ran from the police. He has been caught and he, and his family, will pay for his crimes. But let's put things in perspective shall we. Yes black men are arrested DAILY for crimes that they may or MAY NOT have committed. But so are WHITES, HISPANICS, ASIANS and every other nationality you can think of. On June 27,2007 a 13 year old stole a truck and is faced with the SAME charges as the young man in this case. The difference is that was a WHITE male. I don't see where anyone has made comments on that case....Wonder if his parents reported him missing???

I don't think naming him will humiliate him at all. In fact a person like this will probably get a kick out of hearing his deadbeat name on the news. Im sure he will go around bragging about it once mommy comes and rescues him.

I wonder if his parent is proud of him. Yes, I know I typed "parent" because I'm guessing his Dad is nowhere to be found. I still say we need to name the juveniles since a little bit of humiliation can go a long way.
