Before even coaching his first UK game, Coach Billy Gillispie has lready won over big blue fans.

But how does a guy from Texas, where football is king, end up with one of the most coveted coaching jobs in basketball?

The road started in the small town of Graford, Texas, where people know UK's new coach as simply "Billy Clyde."

COACH G GOT THIS JOB WITH LUCK AND ALITTLE SUCCESS AT THE RIGHT TIME.THE ONLY BAD TASTE THAT I HAVE AT THIS TIME IS DUMPING ON TRAVI FORD OF U MASS AND YOU KNOW THE REST OF THE STORY.NOT ONLY WOULD THAT HELP TRAVIS BUT WOULD'VE BEEN LIKE HOME GAME FOR RAMEL BRADLEY AS HE CLOSES OUT HIS LAST YEAR.I JUST WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND KY.BB SHOWING WEAKNESS AAND THAT'S WHAT IT WAS,NO MATTER HOW YOU SLICE OR DICE IT.AND FROM MY SEC BB EXPERIENCE IT WILL HURT KY.BB IN THE LONG RUN.I KNOW THE THINS THAT ARE SAID ON THE RECRUITNG TRAIL AND IN THE LOOP.

SOME OF YOU ARE JUST WILDCAT FANS IF YOU HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DO. SOME OF US ARE WILDCAT FANS OF THE ** BIG BLUE NATION **. WHERE ELSE DOES BASKETBALL REIGN AS THE NUMBER ONE SPORT IN THE WORLD????????

I think that Billy G's approach to coaching is exactly what Kentucky has needed for the last several years. Tubby was a great guy...but his style of play was just not what Kentucky has been known for. Billy G has already proven to be a top recruiter. Patience will be needed, as immediate results, although possible, should not be expected. As long as Coach Gillispie makes the play excting to watch, he will have no problem at all remaining King of Big Blue Nation for many years to come. We will be back in the Final Four before long. Just look at what our future already holds in terms of recruits! Welcome Coach Gillispie! Go CATS!

Billy bares a striking resemblance to Squiggy from the old Laverne and Shirley TV show.

You guys make it sound like this is the second coming of Christ...give it a break! IT'S BASKETBALL!!! He hasn't coached a game and you guys keep saying he is exactly what this program needs. What if he falls flat on his face; are you going to back up your hype? It's basketball, not a way of life so get a life! I will say one thing; at least the first three posts are typed with proper grammar and punctuation (for the most part)which is rare when comparing past posts from UK basketball fans. At least the educated have spoken.

Everything I have read makes me feel real good about the future. It sounds like we finally have a man that can bring us to the real sucess that the KY. name stands for.

Wow..I am so glad to hear what Coach Gillispie is doing already at UK. He has not even coached one game and he is already in the stardom status. I was thrilled when he was hired. I didnt really care if Donovan came or not. When he turned it down, I was like "so what". I remember telling people during the season that if Tubby eith resigned or was fired, I hope that UK would look at the coach from Texas A&M, I was telling them that he was a good coach and would be a nice fit at UK. Now we have him and I think Coach Gillispie and UK can be a perfect fit. All fans to to understand that Rome was not built in one day..Give the coach time. I know he will make progress. the bad thing is that Crawford and Bradley are gone after this year. If Gillispie had them longer I think you would see a diffrent style of players.
