Police are looking for a suspect; after two women are sexually assaulted while walking together in a parking lot near the University of Kentucky.

The assault happened around 2 am Sunday morning in the parking lot just off Scott street.

Police say the man pulled a gun on the two women before he sexually assaulted both of them.

27 NEWSFIRST was the only one on the scene while crews investigated.

Police found tons of evidence on the scene, including a playboy magazine next to where the women say they were assaulted.

The woman describe the man who assaulted them as a white man about 5 foot 7 with a short haircut.

University of Kentucky sent out a safety alert via e-mail Sunday.

Police don't believe this assault is associated with the recent rapes in the area.

AP Story

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Lexington area authorities are searching for a man who sexually assaulted two University of Kentucky women students.

Lexington Police Lieutenant Mario Russo says it was not determined whether the attack early yesterday morning occurred on the UK campus, but it was quite close.

Russo says the 21-year-old women were apparently walking home from downtown Lexington bars.

The scene of the attack was off south Broadway.

Police and paramedics were called about 1:30 am to a parking lot off Scott Street.

Spokesman Jay Blanton says UK officials posted a warning on their Web site and sent out a campus-wide e-mail.

The suspect was described as a white man 5-feet-7 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing and had short hair or a shaved head.

Maybe police could have prevented this if they werent harrassing cab drivers who are trying to take responsible people home. The police find it necessary to ticket cabs parked in front of bars instead of driving around looking for people lurking in the bushes waiting to prey on someone.

What in the world were they doing in the parking lot at 2:00 in the morning anyway? Everyone on Campus and I mean everyone, knows that Scott street is not safe after the sun goes down. Street people, unsavory characters and gangs frequent this area constantly. Just look at the old rundown Boots Bar Bldg, it is a crack den hangout that the city won't do anything about. They beg money, spray graffitti and break into automobiles constantly. We had to have the candy vending machine taken out of the Art Building here on Scott St. because they kept breaking into it during the night. I guess it will take another killing of a college student to get the University or the city to do anything. So sad.
