I agree with Joe. Not much to do but our gay population is increasing each and every day so I'm guessing this story about being tops for young singles might appeal to the gay crowd. I have a lot of gay friends and they love it here. For me on the other hand, I have a great job which is why I am here, but as far as a single's lifestyle, nope, not much going on for us straight people.

Joe... I heard you... It seems like that the Gay and Lesbian singles have taken over everywhere you go... What happened to good ole fashioned morals... Don't get me wrong I have lots of friends that choose this type of life and it is fine with me but some how some where it seems to have gotten out of hand... It is almost impossible to get a date if you are single and straight and I am right there with you Joe... No clubbing afraid to anymore! Still think Lexington is a great city for most things like UK college, shopping malls, arts/crafts etc. but as for the bars and the night life other then the movies and dining out, no.

Maybe for GAY singles. I work part time in a local Kroger's to make ends meet. I have never seen so many feminine men and masculine women come thru the front door of any business as I do this place. I have nothing against gays (any extremist scares me) but they seem to be everywhere. I am single, not bad looking (I've been told) but the night life for single straight people is virtually non-existent. Bars? Yeah, there are bars but not nightclubs for dancing or anything else. Woo hoo, let's go bet on the horses! Not for singles! Someone had to have been paid good money to put Lexington in the top five of this story.

Interesting....and isn't one of the other cities at the top of the list (Washington) known to have more homeless people than most larger cities!?!?! It's interesting how they come up with these lists....healthiest city, safest city or the city with the most smokers or most obese children...makes one wonder!

Carol Then move to North Carolina and let a job open for someone who wants to be in lexington! As far as prices I have seen alot worse then Lexington's... Nightlife better then Winchester, Mt. Sterling, etc it seems that all of you all have just been out so much that there is no new place to go and no new face to see and all of them there have seen the same ole you! That could be why it is boring ever think about just staying in and having a card game with friends or watch a good movie... Give it a month or so and go back out... They won't remember your face and you won't remember all them, be like the first time all over again...! Or try going to Church that is even better... Jesus is always exciting!

I agree.....what "night life"???? Sorry...but my friends and I are out in the singles scene here.....and it's very boring....but there's nothing else to do. That article is wrong....they must mean some other city named Lexington. And cost of living? That's a joke too....the prices for the lofts downtown....or housing prices in general around here.....ridiculous. Lexington thinks its Manhattan or something. I could live cheaper in North Carolina.

There was also a thing on Yahoo a couple of months ago, placing Lex in the top two, based on Beaux Arts and the "homosexual scene." I don't really see how having a good scene for homosexuals makes Lex a great city for those of us who are straight!!!

I wonder how much that bribe cost the tourism commission?
