Child Is Burned

Investigators in Laurel County are on the scene of a bizarre explosion.

A 3-year old boy has been flown to UK Medical Center with burns on his face and head.

Laurel County EMS says the boy was walking outside the Plantation Apartments in London when he dropped his sippy cup.

When the cup hit the ground something exploded, burning the toddler's head and face.

The ATF has been called in, but officials say it doesn't appear the burns are life threatening.

We have a crew in London and we'll bring you the latest tonight at 11.

This story is really strange. I am wondering how a sippy cup being dropped could cause loose gun powder to explode. I have been around guns and ammunition all my life and never seen such an accident happen. Now if the child had a hammer maybe, but a sippy cup come on....! I hope that KSP looks a little further into this situation and just doesn't take word that this is how it happened... I would hate to read a news story later about the little boy ending up dead because it wasn't investigated!
