LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky Supreme Court Justice William
McAnulty Jr. was released Monday from a hospital where he had been
recovering from brain surgery to remove a cancerous lesion.
McAnulty, 59, underwent surgery Wednesday. He was diagnosed
nearly three weeks ago with lung cancer, which also spread to his
brain, Jewish Hospital said in a statement.
He is also to undergo chemotherapy and radiation therapy after
he fully recovers from surgery.
McAnulty won a full eight-year term on the high court in
November, defeating Jefferson County Circuit Judge Ann O'Malley
Shake. The electoral win came just months after Gov. Ernie Fletcher
appointed McAnulty to the Supreme Court to replace Justice Martin
E. Johnstone, who retired in June 2006.
