FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - House Speaker Jody Richards, Senate
President David Williams and Governor Fletcher will meet with
Peabody Energy's chief executive officer next week. The conference
will be concerning a three (B) billion-dollar plant to convert coal
to synthetic natural gas that the company is planning.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that Richards requested the
closed meeting, which is to be next Wednesday, possibly in Bowling
Green or Louisville.
The governor said in a statement tonight that he is "happy to
meet with Peabody executives again, along with any members of the
legislature Peabody deems appropriate."
Richards says he hopes to find out, if Kentucky gives incentives
to Peabody, will they assure us they will come to Kentucky.
