Wife Of Injured Irvine Police Officer Speaks Out

The family of a Irvine police officer shot Friday night at random speaks about the experience to 27 NEWSFIRST only.
Eva Asher, the wife Eddie Asher; the officer police say was shot in the back of the head by Junice "Dickie" Mays, says her husband is doing well.
Eva Asher said, she was about to go to bed when she heard the shot ring out Friday night.
Asher said, the couple's apartment was only 50 feet from where the shooting happened.
Asher said, as soon as she heard the gunshots she rushed to the scene; knowing it was her husband, because he was the only officer on duty.
Asher said, when she arrived on the scene she found her husband covered in blood; from the glass and gun pellet wounds.
Eddie was rushed to the hospital and was released Saturday morning.
Asher said, by Saturday night Eddie Asher and his Christian rock band, "Hundredfold", were playing in concert in Pikeville Kentucky.
Mays is facing several charges, including attempted murder.
He's also getting a mental health evaluation.

We were all glad to hear that Eddie is okay. I just wanted you all to know that I am praying for you and wish you all the best. God is great and this is a testimony of that fact.

I would like to express my concerns for the Asher family this is a terriable thing to have happened I agree, But my comment is to Kim of Frenchberg. Dont speak for all Vietnam Vets I too am a Vietnam Vet and a cousin to Dickie Mayse. You have not a CLUE of what he and I have gone through we were Kids sent to War and suffer from PTSD when we came home Dickie is a kind and caring person. He has a problem you know nothing of, I only hope and pray for his family and he gets the help he needs. Mike

This little town is full of corruption, no disrespect to Officer Asher because he is relatively new to the force and may not have been involved in what has happened in the past. I'm not defending Mr. Mays either because what he did was definitely wrong. I believe that something has happened in the past that provoked Mr. Mays to commit this ungodly act.

And the officer played with his Christian Rock Band the following night. Tell me this guy isn't tough as nails! I'm glad he is doing ok and hopefully they catch the jerks who did this. If they feel they can get away with it once, they'll do it again. Oh and Darlene, the word is "definitely" not "defiantly". Those words have two very different meanings.

I'm sorry to hear about your husband. It sound's like he's doing OK. But I think they all scream they have mental problem's when they do something this bad. And they ought to have to pay the price for thier action's. Mental or not you had a gun and they are not toy's.
