FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Attorney General Greg Stumbo is
considering a run against Senator Mitch McConnell next year.
Stumbo says in a statement that he is forming an exploratory
committee and will begin raising money. Stumbo, a Democrat, ran
unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor in the May primary election.
He says he is excited about gathering the facts and doing the
ground work for the election.
Senate minority leader McConnell said during a conference call
with reporters today that he's ready for all challengers. McConnell
did not discuss any specific possible opponent.
McConnell has already raised more than seven-point-six (M)
million dollars for next year's election, and still has almost six
million on hand.
