Oakwood Slapped With Serious Citation Despite New Management

SOMERSET, Ky. (AP) - The state's largest facility for mentally
retarded adults has been cited again over the injury of a patient.
According to a citation released today, a staffer at the
Communities at Oakwood left a shoe print on a patient's face during
an incident on June 17th.
According to the citation, Oakwood officials failed to conduct a
thorough investigation of the incident by not questioning the staff
properly and not reviewing video surveillance.
The videotape revealed a caretaker striking the patient.
The Type-A citation is the third issued by state inspectors in
the last two months against Bluegrass Mental Health-Mental
Retardation Board.

It must be a sicker person that would be so cruel to an Oakwood patient

It appears despite the new management, that the indivduals being cared for (or not) at the Oakwood facility may be in need of a new placement and the facility given a final notice to straighten up or CLOSE it down, this is a horrible situation (again).
