Dunbar Athletic Trainer Arrested For Distributing Obscene Matter

A man who worked with Lexington school children is now in trouble with the law for sending an obscene picture of himself through e-mail.

Lexington Police arrested 33 year old Gregory Jackson last night. He was a trainer with UK who worked with athletes at Dunbar High School.

Police charged Jackson with distribution of an obscene matter to a minor. They say he e-mailed the dirty picture to a 17-year-old girl.

School officials say Jackson worked with all the teams at Dunbar, male and female, but did not work for the school system.

Fayette County Superintendent Stu Silberman issued the following statement following Jackson's arrest:

“This matter was brought to our attention by a concerned parent this morning and we acted immediately. We contacted the Crimes Against Children Unit with the Lexington Police Department and our Fayette County Public Schools law enforcement department. We contacted the University of Kentucky since Mr. Jackson is a UK employee, and directed them not to have him back on any of our campuses. The University of Kentucky has been extremely cooperative and is replacing him today. As we would do in any situation like this, we acted swiftly to have this person removed. We’re pleased that this parent brought this to our attention so that we could take appropriate action.”

I knew Greg all through college and he was always a friendly, outgoing individual who could come across as flirty merely because he was funny and made friends easily. I don't know how he may have changed over the years, but what I know of him, he would never do anything of this nature. My family doesn't believe it nor do I. I am confident that he would never do anything to hurt his family because he is a very loyal person and loves his family deeply. I am a mother myself and I realize the fear that we all have of our children being hurt in any way, but I have to question how all of this ever came about in the first place? I am guessing that an error in judgement has cost a good person a lot of pain and trouble.

How can you possibly compare this event to two students slapping another on the butt?! A teacher making contact like this is much worse. I say you need to wake up yourself. It was not reported that the student went to his house. She was invited. Never did they say she accepted the invitation. I know the victim personally and I could never believe that she was making this up. She told me the same thing she told the police, and I believe her. My prayers go out to her and her family, as well as the family of the trainer. However, I hope Mr. Jackson gets the punishment he deserves for harrassing this student, and nothing less.

I wish Greg and his family the best but have to agree with the decision of both schools to keep him away from kids (fired or not).

I just want to use a situation that happened here at one point in time that might help those of you who are quick to judge Greg see just how easy it is to blow things out of proporion. Two male students ran down the hall at a school and smacked a girl on the but (that was all). Those two students were sued by the girl, and now have felony charges on them for that, as well as being listed on the sexual predators list. WAKE UP PEOPLE! Television shows that your kids watch show things worse than that. In all honesty, your children are doing worse things than that out of your sight. The system has made it too easy for people to be branded sexual predators. Those boys who were 16, will now have no chance of going to a good school or getting a good job, but the girl who should have dealt with it in another way, got loads of money and is living life to the fullest. I feel sorry for Greg and hope that is all works out for him.

Ok, Im am a student athlete at Dunbar. Greg has always been a nice guy. However, now looking back on it he was extreamly flirty with the females. I have heard storys previous to this about him making comments to and or about girls. I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT HE DID IT. And i would not be surprised if more girls came out with storys like this.

Yes, the girl is also responsible. This guy would not, out of the blue, send a picture like that. Do you think maybe she sent him an obscene first and he was returning her one? I'm sure plenty of chatting was going on before this happend. Even though some people are minors, they still take adult actions.

Ya know, i feel like one statement below about the girl he sent this to. Okay, come on, why would he just up and send her a pic w/out her wanting it or whatever? Sounds like the girl has just as much blame on her as the man. Before you judge him, make sure your hands are clean as well. Something had to make this girl want this from him, hmm, wonder why because he a descent looking guy? But yeah, she's in as much wrong as him, but I'm sure everything on her end is okay, just a pat onthe back stating, now honey don't you do nothing like that no more. OH GOSH
