Teen Could Face Life In Prison, If Convicted

A judge ruled on Friday that a Mercer County teenager could face life in prison without parole, if found guilty.

Lee Anderson is accused of stabbing and robbing former teacher Louise Pulliam in Harrodsburg back in Januraly 2006.

Anderson was 17 when he was charged with the crime, but has since turned 18.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2005 that juveniles cannot be sentenced to death.

Anderson's attorney argued that Kentucky law does not allow a straight life sentence to be imposed on offenders who were juveniles at the time of the crime. The Commonwealth's Attorney and the judge disagreed.

Anderson is scheduled to go on trial on August 20th.

I feel that his life should not be spared (if convicted) because he decided to rob and take another person's life. Laws should not protect individuals from the death penalty either. Anymore terrible crimes are been commited against the elder in their own homes that I believe life in prison is too good for the criminals. We must protect our parents and grandparents from such tragedies. Life is about making choices and taking responsibility for one's action. We should not forget the victim and her family. I wonder what the teenager has to offer or say to them.
