Midway Resident Dies in Woodford County Wreck

Versailles, KY - A Midway man died in a single vehicle crash late last night on a rural stretch of road in Woodford County just west of Lexington.

Versailles police report the crash occured on KY 1967 - also known as Pisgah Pike - north of U. S. 60 at 10:15 p.m. Lt. Daniel Clark of the Versailles Police identified the victim as 27-year old Zachary Cummingham of Higgins St. in Midway.

An investigating officer said the victim was driving a white pickup truck headed south on Pisgah Pike when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. Apparently, Cummingham, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle, fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene by the Woodford County Coroner's Office.

Officers returned this morning to diagram the accident scene. The collision remains under investigation.
