Four Busted In Laurel County Drug Arrests

Corbin, Ky. - Corbin Police rounded up three people yesterday suspected of drug activites in separate busts, and are searching for a fourth, all with the help of a confidential informant.

Police say two of the arrests were in Corbin, one other was in nearby Woodbine, and they are seeking the brother of the Woodbine man all in apparently unrelated activities.

Officers arrested Patsy Ross of the Barton Mill Apartments and Gary Helton at the South Main Street residence in Corbin. Corbin Police Chief Carson Mullins says his officers executed a search warrant at the apartment complex after a tip from a confidential informant, who told police he had purchased drugs from Ross. Ross was charged with trafficking in controlled substances, possession of controlled substances and tampering with evidence.

Gary Helton, the brother of Ross, was charged with tampering with evidence, resisting arrest and menacing. Both were lodged in the Whitley County Jail.

Corbin officers also raided the residence of Stanley and Layton Elliott on Elliott Hollow Road in Woodbine. Corbin police again were aided by a confidential informant who told police he'd purchased drugs at the residence. Officers seized controlled substances and arrested Layton Elliott at the scene and have issued an arrest warrant for Stanley Elliott who was not home at the time of the bust.

Both have been charged with trafficking in controlled substances. Corbin Officers Major Bruce Rains, Sgt. Rob Jones, K-9 Officer Glenn Taylor, Cpl. Steve Douglas and Patrolman Rick Baker worked both drug busts.

This kind of news makes me happy. I tip my hat to the Police in this case and I hope these particular "drug heads" get punished accordingly.

That is not Laurel County, that is Whitley County. And Barton Mill is in downtown Corbin...Not Laurel,we get enough bad publicity as it is.
