Mother Accused Of Abandoning Child Speaks Out

More Video...

For the first time a young Breathitt County mother speaks out. 22 year old Stacey Johnson is accused of abandoning her baby at an eastern Kentucky courthouse, after asking an inmate to watch her.

Johnson, who is out of jail on a five thousand dollar bond, spoke after a hearing this morning in Powell District Court. She told 27 NEWSFIRST that she's a good mother, and appeared sorry for what she's alleged to have done.

Johnson met with her defense attorney, Public Defender Lisa Whisman, only briefly this morning, finding out when her jury trial is scheduled to happen.

She is accused of leaving her ten month old baby girl, Joshlyn, in a car seat at the Powell Courthouse with a jail trustee who was working there.
Johnson also faces a charge of being high on drugs in public.

The trial date for Johnson is scheduled for November 16th.

Just to add the Individual that *Now* has Custody of the young child is More of the same! (She (Stacy) had to give custody to someone and I would guess they where the first to come to mind, another of a long list of bad decisions made by her) I know this guy and his family and believe me NOT GOOD! Point of fact he had told Grandma and Great grandma (who live in the Chicago land area) Not to come down to Breathitt As they will not see the baby or be able to return to Illinois with it! I know them as well and *Best Place* for baby is with responsible family. He’s refusal to let the *Blood Family* take custody is crime in its self! The blood families (two grandmas) are not real sophisticated but I would hope the child winds up OUT OF THE STATE OF KENTUCKY and far from harms way! Hoping the best for the baby.

She should never be alound to have her child back. Anyone that does bad things to a child should never have any. If Drugs and Drining is whats she what in life. Don't have kids. They are the ones that get hurt.

Annoymous from Texas, did you see what happened in Richmond? Another baby murdered, do you think this baby was given a second chance to live? I think not!! Stacy sure was punished big time, small slap on the wrist and out on bail. I say, lock this drug head up and never allow her to have any contact with this baby again! Tasha said she know's Stacy and that she's had a bad life and she's is a good mother....BULL**** I've had a very bad life and I have never turned to drugs or put my child's life in danger. No good mother would do that. She's already had her chance and proven that she cares more about drugs than her child!! To many children are dead because of giving druggies second chances!

I think this so called "mother" should be locked up for good! No second chances for someone who endangers a childs life! And as for annomyous in Texas, what if this baby had been murdered? Would you still be saying give her another chance? The sad thing is that if she want's this baby back the system will give it to her to do the same thing again, or maybe do something worse. The only reason these people want these babies are for the welfare and WIC.If you are a druggie, go get birth control (news flash) IT'S FREE AT THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT!!!!
