FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - State lawmakers have reached an agreement on a bill that would provide incentives for a company that is
considering bringing a high-tech coal plant to Kentucky.
Legislators met behind closed doors for much of the day trying
to iron out the bill aimed at enticing Peabody Energy to build a
coal gasification plant in the state. They finally reached an
accord around 10:30 p.m.
Lawmakers now will ask Governor Ernie Fletcher to call a special
session on the matter.
House Speaker Jody Richards said the bill could end up being
beneficial to the environment.
