If you don't want to put your kids in daycare or give them something to do after school and during the summer, you have another option in Harlan County.
Many came out for the grand opening of a new youth development facility and the crowd got a surprise from a special group.
A special group came to Harlan to show support for the new boys and girls club grand opening.
“We try to meet all the needs of Harlan County, but we're going to be able to do a lot of things in this facility that we've not been able to do,” Kateena Hayes said.
The new boys and girls club is named after the former voice of the Wildcats and Harlan County Native, the late Cawood Ledford.
“You know he had lots of honors but he thought, he would have thought this one was a great one cause he was on boards when he came back here and he was so glad to be back here,” Frances Ledford said.
Many came out to show support for the new facility.
“A lot of parents have to work and a lot of parents don't want to take them to daycare, but and its really safe here,” Carla King said.
The grand opening ceremony did not end with the ribbon cutting.
The crowd gathered outside eager to see what special group came to visit.
Those special guests were all Harlan County kids.
The club officially opens Friday.
