Adopted Mother Charged With Abusing Children

DANVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A central Kentucky woman has pleaded not guilty to charges that she physically and sexually abused three girls she adopted after serving as their foster parent.

Fifty-four-year-old Patricia Harris faces two counts of first-degree sodomy, nine counts of criminal abuse and one count of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

Harris adopted the girls, ages 5, 6, and 8 in April 2006 after serving as the sisters' foster parent.

The girls were taken from Harris' custody on June 28th. They accuse the woman of a variety of abuses. The 5-year-old told investigators she was sexually abused by Harris, who also is accused of hitting the girls and pushing them down stairs.

I would have to say that I know for a fact that this woman was screened just like every other foster parent, but she just had no other record of anything. This is her first offense. BOY DID SHE MAKE IT A GOOD ONE! I agree with mom in ky in the sense that she just wanted to sit around and collect a check from the government. I think that it is a shame that they pay these parents even after adopting them. I think that once you take on the responsibility of adopting a child, then you should not get a check anymore. Maybe this would stop some of these monsters. They don't realize how hard it is on the children.

I think these sickos take the kids just so they can get a check from the state. They don't want to work and they know it is an easy way to lay around and let the government support them. Also, I think they know when they ask to be foster parents exactly what they plan to do to these helpless kids. The sad part is-it is never going to stop. Hell is for people like that!!! But, I don't mean that all foster parents are like that-I know there are some that really take care of the kids and love them.

I would have to say that this is definitely a sad story. I knew these children personally and they were the sweetest girls. How some monster could come and take their innocence away is beyond me. I pray for these little girls everyday.

this just makes me sick... i have a child i adopted and i love her just as much as i love my biological children and would never harm a hair on her head. what in the world is wrong with ppl. people like need to be sent striaght to hell. ppl like her make foster parents look bad not all foster parents are bad. i dont understand why ppl take foster children if they dont truley love them and have intentions of loving them and caring for them as precious gifts from god that need to be loved and cared for.. it just makes me sick to no end

The people who take in children should be screened for quite some time before they are allowed any children.. I would love to spend some time with people who hurt little kids..In the long run this woman and others of her kind will pay the ultimate price for their wicked ways GOD WILL see to this. BLESS THE CHILDREN. It is terrible that you wake everyday to hear that another child is abused. Some people need to have their tubes tied so they can't have children.

Every time the news comes on, we hear about another child suffering or dead at the hands of someone that's supposed to have cared for them.I understand there are many children that need a place to be, but can't child services at least check these people out a little before just putting the kids from one bad situation into another? Then go check in on them once in a awhile? I understand the workers have their hands tied to a certain point, but this kind of thing seems to be happening way to often. These little girls will never have a normal life. The b*tch needs to be the same things done to her, and then some. It's all we hear anymore... kids being abused so much. Some so much they end up dead. Like I said before... the 'justice' system needs to make examples of these so-called parents.
