States, Feds Probe Allleged Interstate Assault, Rape & Kidnapping

Pikeville, Ky. - Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia and federal authorities are investigating rape and kidnapping charges made by a Virginia woman who says she was sexually assaulted and taken against her will to Pike County.

Kentucky State Police, Sheriff's Departments in Buchanan County, W.Va. and Dickenson County, Va. and the FBI are all involved in the case.

The case began with a call yesterday to the KSP Post at Pikeville from a resdient in the community of Mouthcard saying a female on her porch said she had been beaten, raped and kidnapped from her Dickenson County, Virginia home by her estranged boyfriend. The woman told an investigating trooper that she had been forced into a vehicle and brought to Mouthcard where she was assaulted.

The woman was transported to a local medical facility for treatment. Because of privacy considerations her condition cannot be ascertained.

KSP Detectives Donnie Shearer and Kevin Newsome, FBI Agent Tim Burke and deputies from the county Sheriff's Departments in W.Va. and Va. are pursuing the case.
