Bank Robbery Suspect Shot By SWAT Team Dies

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley says the bank gunman shot by police has died.

The shooting happened after a nearly three-hour standoff at a National City Bank branch in suburban Louisville. Four bank employees who had been briefly held hostage were freed unharmed before the shooting.

The dead man's identity was not immediately released. He was shot by members of the SWAT team as he came out of the bank holding a weapon.

Members of the team have been placed on administrative leave. Police say it's not clear whether the man was trying to rob the bank.

about time the police start finishing up these situations. i am Tired of these crooks getting my cash even though it is insured by the fdic. yet the more they shoot then the less time i will have to be spending my time going to court to CONVICT these idiots.granted federal cases are fun to be a juror yet still the principal of the matter is me taking off my job for a case where they are guilty and get paid peanuts to sit and listen to these idiots
