Civil Lawsuit Against Shane Ragland

A day after Shane Ragland admitted to killing former UK football player Trent Digiuro, 27 NEWSFIRST has learned a civil suit against Ragland, by the Digiuro family will likely go forward.

This comes as Fayette Commonwealth's Attorney Ray Larson takes some heat today over the plea deal Ragland entered yesterday.

Mike Diguiro says he hasn't had time to think about the civil suit, and adding that he expects to go ahead with it. He has the blessing of Kentucky's Supreme Court which upheld a decision by the court of the appeals by overturning a ruling in circuit court.

In the view of the majority opinion in the appeals court ruling, current state law does not put a statute of limitations on wrongful death civil suits saying in part "it does seem absurd that when one has been a successful murderer he is provided benefits and arbitrary defenses under the law."

Meanwhile the prosecutor who engineered the plea agreement received the earful he knew he'd get during a radio call-in program.
Most of the calls were similar in tone, very angry.

Shane Ragland will get to take off his tracking device by the end of the week.

Perhaps Jerry and his sissy son will finally have to get hit where it hurts over the immense pain they have caused everyone. He's admitted killing Trent, so the civil suit should be a slam dunk. I hope the DiGiuros sue for 200% of Jerry Ragland's net worth. Both men deserve to suffer greatly for the pain they have inflicted on so many.

NO QUESTION MONIES SHOULD BE AWARDED TO THE DIGUIRO FAMILY AND THE RAGLANDS SHOULD RESPECTFULLY OBLIGE.THEY SHOULD STEP UP AND MAKE LIFE ALITTLE EASIER FOR THE DIGUIRO FAMILY.I BELIEVE IF TRENT DIDN'T LOSE HIS LIFE HE WOULD DO ALOT FOR HIS PARENTS AS THEY GET OLDER.TAKE CARE OF THEM.THAT'S WHAT SIBLINGS DO.THE RAGLANDS OWN MUCHO PROPERTIES IN FRANKFORT,EVEN BUILDINGS THAT'S OCCUPIED BY THE STATE.KEEP IN MIND A MILLION DOLLARS CASH WAS PUT BY RAGLANDS FAMILY FOR HIS BOND.SO IF THEY ARE HONORABLE PEOPLE THEY SHOULD COME UP WITH A SUITABLE SETTLEMENT.LOCK IT UP.

I hope this family gets everything the Ragland's have! They deserve it! It may not bring their son back, but perhaps the next time Shane kills someone, he won't have enough money to get out of it!

Will this be Ray Larson's "Outrage of the Month" on his website? If it was any other prosecutor or judge they would be on there!

Ray Larson is and always has been a joke. He is just a regular prosecutor who has created this persona around himself. By getting on all forms of media and playing this tough on crime character, he has gotten a false reputation. This is far from the first time that he has pulled something like this. Several years ago, a young man was headbutted to death. Larson let his killer off on 4th degree assault, a misdemeanor. He had to serve 60 days... in two 30 day installments so as to no inconvenience him too much. Of course the victim's parents were outraged. Larson was on the radio the next day promoting himself again as a "criminal's worst nightmare." Who could forget Larson's inaction when a speeding Lexington police officer killed Rachel Burns? He killed her going 70 in a 35 and he got charged with speeding. Can you imagine if you or I did that? Now he sits back and draws a fat check every month. Yes Ray Larson is the biggest fake going.

this is the shortest murder sentence I have ever known, what kind of an example does that set for our criminals.
