Mercer County Bank Robbers Still On The Loose

More Video...

Just before 10:00a.m. Wednesday, the Farmers National Bank on Main Street in Burgin was robbed by two men with a long barreled handgun.
The suspects ran from the scene, leaving a trail of money behind them.

State police are still searching for two white men. Late Wednesday night police released a composite sketch of one suspect. He is described an older man and a scraggly beard, wearing a black t-shirt. The other is a younger man wearing a baseball cap and blue plaid shirt.

Troopers say the suspects fled the scene in an unknown vehicle and in an unknown direction but dropped some cash. Troopers and detectives are currently canvassing the neighborhood in search of more clues.

Good thing they point out what they were wearing. I'm sure they don't change clothes. I've been wearing the same outfit for 17 years. Glad it isn't a blue plaid shirt...

    Shame on these men.

I had read on one of the earlier reports that the suspects had not covered their faces and they had got some decent pictures on the cameras, so where are they. Maybe it takes time to process them into still photos? Who knows. I have faith, Since Harrodsburg and Burgin don't usually get a lot of action, I think they will work that much harder to catch the idiots. Just my theory. Good luck and I think you will.

I have lived in Burgin off and on all my life. It's hard to believe this finally happened here in our friendly little town. However, it is taking place all over the US. We have a talented police chief. He will make ever effort to apprehend the two robbers. And when this happens, you can be assured that they won't be from Burgin. What is puzzling is the composit sketch. Were there no pictures on the video?

I hope that they catch them!! I would hate for people to be scared and not want to come to the 2nd Annual Burgin Festival next week! I would have never thought this would happen in little Burgin!

This was to close for comfort!! I hope that they catch the men and make them pay for what they did!!! Burgin is a wonderful little city and I hate that this has happened!

I agree with Jim, lived here for 30 years. Can't believe it hadn't been tried before. Don't know what the guy from Harrodsburg is meaning by his post. Cop at home off duty, no other law around, several ways to get out of town... it's not Fort Knox. I assume from the composite sketch they don't have good pictures. That's the part that is unbelievable.
