Fox Sports Writer Apologizes To KY

Fox Sports writer Jay Glazer, who last week blasted the state of Kentucky in an online report, has apologized.

In his article, titled "Bengals Look Good, but Kentucky's the Pits," he took swipes at the region, using terms like "hillbilly" and "goober" in referring to people he met.

In an article posted Wednesday, the writer says, "For those Kentuckians who were offended by my words, that was certainly not my intention and I hope you will somehow understand that I was not trying to hurt anyone nor tarnish a group of people."

Glazer also says it was supposed to be a fun slice of America and he'd come back to Kentucky in a heartbeat.

Are kidding me?? Who cares what he thinks, get over yourselves people. We know who we are and we know how blessed we are to be here. Who cares if some idiot comes here and because he has to follow the rules for a change he decides to through a temper tantrum in the press. I would be more upset with FOX because it was irresponsible of his editor for allowing that to pass through to print, but even that isn't worth it. In the wake of miners being killed, children being killed, our soldiers fighting for our freedom, is this really that big of a deal? Let's worry about the things we CAN change and pray for the idiots like this guy, because it is obvious he needs it.

It is the fact that this human being took it upon himself to downgrade others for what he perceived and not for what he knew. I am sure when you go to any state, you will find those who don't uphold themselves and who don't care about themselves, but we don't judge the entire state for a select few. I think his comment was rude and only said because he thought he could get away with it. But what he did was make a fool of himself and ruin his credibility with a lot of people. He hurt himself, apology or no apology.

His sarcasm is very obvious. A "fun" slice is when you say or do things in FUN. Not when you vent with vindictiveness and have the advantage of an audience. I enjoy the jokes about stereotypes sometimes, alot of people do. (or some comedians wouldn't be so popular)But not when they completely try to degrade the way he was doing. It is no longer a "joke" then, it is a prejudiced opinion. As for his "gaurdian angel", she wasn't limiting his drinking, they just stopped serving at that establishment. He was free to drink all he wanted, he would have had to just find somewhere else to get it. Maybe he should have taken that opportunity to track down that moonshiner.

Okay, I can't find the apology article on Fox Sports web site. Did they just leave it on there for a very short while. Definitely not long enough for all of us HILLBILLIES to read it. I am angry a Fox Sports for running the article in the first place. That was really a BIG insult to alot of people, not only Kentuckians. I am angry at our governor for not saying anything in our defence. Especially since there at one time was going to be a television program, not too long ago, about our poor residents, Please, Why couldn't our "Governor" have said something. Now that really saddens me.

i think the only reason he apologized was because he got some heat from the network .it was not sincere in the least .i have lived in kentucky my whole 38 years ,and i can state as a fact that ALL born and raised kentuckians are kind and helpful to all ...our state brothers and sisters as well as visitors .we are great people who should be proud of ourselves coming together to defend one another when we felt threaten ,in honor .thanks to each and every one of you that had my back so to speak .i would gladly have yours anyday .

Apology not accepted because I don't believe it is sincere. I think he believes and feels what he wrote.

Ralph: I don't think Concerned Citizen was insulting anyone. He was pointing out some good points that need to be addressed. Most states including OHIO, have "no one left behind laws". Sure there are problems in many cultures and suberbs, But there isn't a school in KY where they are not pushibng KIDS though school who can't speak or read. Concerned Citizen is absolutely right it's a problem and it needs faced rather than getting our feathers in frenzy because someone picked on our state. Oh yea, I am 63 and I have seen this problem my whole life. Many states think Kentucky is a joke. Sure some peope are bigots, but if 50 people tell you, "you have on mud on your face" it's time to look in the mirror, rather than getting offended! Kentucky is full of Smart People and Beautiful People!! But that doesn't mean we are keeping up with the other states.. Rob, just because people don't like the way things are doesn't mean they should move, I pay my taxes, I obey the laws, and I will speak!
