Decision On Stricter Water Restrictions Expected

This week, water officials will decide if stricter water restrictions are in store for Lexington.

Kentucky American Water says the city could go into a total outdoor watering ban this week. That decision could be made Tuesday or Wednesday.

Lexington has been under a phase three water restriction, meaning people can only water on certain schedules, since August 28.

Until then water like hell, like The Beaumont Neighborhood Association and Kentucky Blood Center have been doing. And don't worry about odd or even, just keep your sprinkler timers on and when you get caught you can blame the irrigation company.

I believe that stricter water rationing will only lead to more consumption. Figures have already shown that Lex water usage is up sharply since the last restrictions went into place. Restricting more, will put people in "panic mode" and many people will feel they have to water everything and will drive the usage up even higher.

I am very concerned about the water. I am a fisherman and its putting a strain on the fish population. I think that stricter water use should be imposed,
