OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) - Three people were killed early Tuesday morning in a western Kentucky house in what police are describing as a murder-suicide.
Jerry Willoughby, 52, and Christopher Willoughby, 6, were found dead just before 1 a.m. CDT at their home in Owensboro, the Daviess County Sheriff's Office said.
Sharon Willoughby, 57, was still alive when police found her in the house, but she died later at Owensboro Medical Health Services, the sheriff's office said in a statement.
The county's 911 service got an emergency call from the house at 12:58 a.m., but when deputies arrived, they got no response and broke into the home, the statement said. They found Jerry Willoughby on the kitchen floor with a single gunshot wound to the head, the statement said. His wife, Sharon Willoughby, and grandson, Christopher Willoughby, were found in a bedroom.
The sheriff's office said it appeared that Jerry Willoughby shot his wife and grandson, then took his own life.
