Man Shot In The Head Continues To Improve

More Video...

A man police say was shot in the head by his own son is improving. Anthony Cordell is now listed in fair condition at the University of Kentucky hospital.

Police say 22-year-old Dustin Cordell shot his father and his mother on Thursday morning at their home in McCreary County.

Kandi Cordell died from her wounds.

After police responded to the scene, they started searching for the couple's son. He was spotted in Whitley County. Police say he then led them on a chase that ended in Tennessee.

Cordell is in custody of the Campbell County, Tennessee Sheriff's Department. He should be extradited back to Kentucky soon.

He is now charged with murder, assault and other charges stemming from the police chase.

This is for Anonymous in Somerset and Dana from Richmond. It seems that the ignorance may be running in your favor instead of in ours. We have a wonderful community. We are like any other community, we have problems. I take real offense to being called ignorant. I have 2 college degrees and I am far from ignorant. I guess people that don't have anything better to do will sit back and badger a family and judge the community as bad because of what has happened. I think that everyone should examine their own lives and keep their nose out of everyone else's business. I think that this is what is wrong with our society. People are to busy worrying about everyone else to see what is going on in their own life. The Cordell family is one of the greatest families that I have ever known. They have had problems, but haven't we all. God have mercy on them and for all of us for that matter. It takes REAL IGNORANCE TO JUDGE AS IGNORANT.

Reply to: Posted by: Fred Location: Lexington Boy, there sure are a lot of people named Anonymous here in Kentucky... If you lived in this area you would understand why everyone has to use anonymous. Have you ever heard that song, "Everybody dies famous in a small town"? Well...I'm sure whomever wrote that song lives in a small town just like here. Everyone knows everyone here. You have to watch how you voice your opinion here or you will get burnt out, gunned down, stabbed, or some other form of punishment. Facts are facts, that's why there is a lot of people named "anonymous" on here. Everyone has their own opinion of things, people here in Pine Knot (McCreary County) know that they better not use their name if they voice their opinion because there will definately be somone who will find it offensive.

Dusty goes to court today. We will see what happens with the Legal System. There has been a lot of comments that he wasn't "RIGHT IN THE HEAD" at the time of the shootings.....WELL DUH!!!! Point is....He decided he wanted drugs...He obtained the drugs....He took the drugs....Then he tried to kill both parents and suceeded with killing his mother! All decisions made by him! Now he should have to pay according to the decisions he has made. YOU DO THE CRIME..YOU PAY THE TIME!!! As far as things go with Colby and his situation...Colby was on drugs, he went to obtain drugs from Greg Coffey, he chose to stab Greg instead of paying for the drugs. Greg may be a victim in his case, but he is far from INNOCENT! It furiates me to no avail that drug dealers who get wounded by a customer actually expects the community to feel sorry for them. SORRY BUT THIS ONE HAS NO SIMPATHY FOR THE DEALERS NOR THE CUSTOMERS! God Bless the Cordell Family and be with them during this time.

OK you told what colby did, now maybe someone needs to say that just because something is prescribed to someone by a doctor and state pays for it and you turn around and sell it to a kid, doesn't mean you are not a dealer. If you ask me sounds like alot of people are hiding the truth!

Children and adults begin taking drugs for many reasons. Learning disabilities, depression, bi-polar disorders. There are several reasons. We need to become more educated to these conditions and the signs. Having one of these illnesses doesn't mean a child is bad. They just need help in a different way. Ways we as parents are not equipped to handle.
