Senators Set Deadline For Chemical Weapons Destruction

DENVER (AP) - Two U.S. senators say they have amended a military funding bill to give the Army 10 years to destroy lethal chemical weapons stored in Colorado and Kentucky.

Senators Wayne Allard of Colorado and Mitch McConnell of Kentucky say the amendment sets a deadline of December 31, 2017, to destroy chemical agents and munitions at the Blue Grass Army Depot in Kentucky and the Pueblo Chemical Depot in Colorado.

Mustard gas, nerve gas and other agents are stored in bunkers at the two depots.
