Fallen Ky Soldier Laid To Rest

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Hundreds paid their respects today at the
funeral of Staff Sergeant Delmar White, a Kentucky National Guard
soldier killed in Iraq earlier this month.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports on its Web site that
37-year-old White was remembered as -- quote -- "a soldier of his
Lord and a soldier of his country" -- endquote. White lived in
Lexington and was previously from Harlan.
White was killed September second by a roadside bomb while
escorting a convoy in Baghdad. Three others were injured.
White's survivors include his wife and their two children.
White was a former corrections officer with the
Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government and a Marine veteran of
the Persian Gulf War.
